Climate Change

CLIMATE CHANGE

Accelerating sea-level rise, storm surge flooding, high winds, and coastal erosion brought on by climate change poses significant challenges that will affect nearly every aspect of life in Hawai’i.

Climate change impacts in Hawai’i are compounded by land development in flooding zones, tourism economy, pipelines, and infrastructure in flooding zones vulnerable to seawater corrosion and seawater intrusion, commerce disruptions, food, and water security, and increase risk of extinction of native plants and animals.
